Gurukul Melbourne

Swaminarayan Gurukul Melbourne is a branch of Swaminarayan Gurukul Rajkot Sansthan. In 1948, under the principles of Lord Shree Swaminarayan, H.H. Gurudev Shastriji Maharaj Shri Dharmajivandasji Swami established Gurukul in Rajkot, Gujarat. Currently Gurukul has expaned worldwide with over 50 branches across the globe.

Every year over 30,000 students graduate from different gurukul campuses. Some of the students had also migrated to Melbourne, Australia and were in a lookout of an opportunity to expand Gurukul Branch in Melbourne.

In 2015, few alumni of Swaminarayan Gurukul Rajkot Sansthan established Swaminarayan Gurukul Melbourne to carry on the mission of Shreeji Maharaj and Shashtriji Maharaj to preserve ethics, moral values, and Indian culture among the next generation. 

With the blessings of Lord Shree Swaminarayan bhagwan & inspiration from Shree Devkrishnadasjiswami,  we started our weekly Satsang assemblies with approximately 15 Satsangi families where assemblies were held at school community hall. As time passed by, the few families and student increased gradually. As the satsangis increased, to cope with the increasing number of satsangi’s, bigger halls were hired to celebrate major festivals. in addition to holding satsangs, we have been celebrating all auspicious festivals. The campus ran Bal Sanskar Kendra, Yuvak and Yuvika Mandals, who have actively been participating in activities like Gujarati classes, social and cultural events. With the increase in the number of satsangi’s and advice from Pujya Devkrushana dasji Swami it was decided to register the Gurukul branch & shree Swaminarayan Gurukul Australia according to the laws and regulations of this country and of our Sampraday.

Shree Swaminarayan Gurukul Melbourne's strong value system and unique teaching methodology is a one-stop solution for children, parents, and society of the 21st century. The framework is designed based on the proven principles of the ancient and transformational Gurukul Value System. We strive to offer the best practices through various tools and techniques to instill these values unto the children, all the while adapting to present social and cultural changes.

Expansion 

In 2019, Swaminarayan Gurukul Melbourne purchased a land in Mount Cottrell, Victoria to carry on spiritual, social, and cultural activities to provide new opportunities to children in Australia. In 2021, a beautiful, residential facility was created to serve the community in more efficient, engaging, and transformative manner. Currently a planning permit is underway to build a proper temple, assembly hall, community hall, sports ground and kids play park.
